English Functional Skills – Entry Level 2 – Words Ending In -tion

This resource has been designed for students working towards Entry Level 2 Functional Skills English certification. It contains an age-appropriate, editable, 85-slide PowerPoint lesson on the Entry Level 2 learning outcome – to read and spell correctly words ending in the suffix – tion.

The PowerPoint focuses on words ending in -tion. They include words that will be useful for pupils across the curriculum e.g. punctuation, fraction, addition, education, question, section, digestion and many more. The PowerPoint also shows how to read and spell words by ‘chunking’. It visually demonstrates how to do this.

Pupils are given a number of challenges that include:

reading and spelling words ending in -tion
writing as many words ending in -tion as possible in a timed challenge
identifying the missing letters from words ending in -tion
inserting the correct -tion word into a sentence
