This resource has been designed for students working towards Entry Level 2 Functional Skills English certification. It contains an age-appropriate, 70-slide PowerPoint lesson on the Entry Level 2 writing component – use the first and second letters to sequence words in alphabetical. The PowerPoint explains why knowing alphabetical order is an important skill. It visually demonstrates how to place words in alphabetical order to the first and second letter. The PowerPoint provides many examples and opportunities for pupils to put items in alphabetical order. There are also tasks that involve pupils identifying where patients records can be found in a filing system and where CDs can be found in boxes.

The PowerPoint also contains a link to a short video explaining alphabetical order.
