This resource has been designed for students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Entry Level 2. It contains an age-appropriate, 130-slide PowerPoint lesson on money – Outcome 12: Calculate money with pence up to one pound and in whole pounds of multiple items and write with the correct symbols (£ or p).
The PowerPoint includes explanations, tasks and activities designed to help pupils to achieve the following outcomes:
to recognise coins and notes and know their value
to understand that different coins can have the same value
to count money in pence, pounds and pounds and pence
to convert from pence to pounds and pence and from pounds and pence to pence
to select the correct coins to pay for items
Many opportunities are provided within the PowerPoint for pupils to develop their knowledge and understanding of money.
