This resource contains an editable, 70-slide PowerPoint lesson on words ending in the suffixes -sion and -ssion. It will help students to master the spelling of -sion and -ssion words. (English programmes of study: Endings which sound like /ʃən/, spelt –sion, ssion).
The PowerPoint contains tasks and activities to introduce, reinforce and consolidate the reading and spelling of these words. It includes the rules for adding the suffix -sion to words ending in -d, -de, -s, -ss, -mit, -el and exceptions to the rules. The PowerPoint visually demonstrates how to do this. There are numerous opportunities within the PowerPoint for pupils to practise the spelling of these words.

A timed activity for pupils working in pairs or groups to find as many words ending in -sion as possible
